Andy Shamblin is a lifelong Republican, West Virginian, and Nitro resident. He has spent seven years teaching AP US Government and Civics at Nitro High School. Andy is passionate about preserving our history and informing his students about the importance of both understanding, and learning, from it.
Andy was the first in his family to attend college. Graduating from West Virginia State University in the fall of 2014 with a degree in Secondary Education. Subsequently, he has also earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Marshall University.
He has served the citizens of Nitro for ten years while on the Nitro City Council; he was initially elected in 2012, at the age of 21.
In addition to his city council tenure, Andy has served on the Nitro Development Authority Board and is currently involved with People’s Federal Credit Union as a member of the Supervisory Committee.
Andy is a Christian and is blessed to serve as the minister at the Nitro Church of Christ.
If elected Andy looks forward to working on policies that will improve education in West Virginia, advance a conservative agenda that will better the economic climate of ours state, and improve infrastructure.
